The Hematology and Oncology Department at the Menlo Medical Clinic specializes in the medical treatment of cancer and blood disorders.  In addition to providing the highest quality medical care in a comfortable and nurturing environment, the Department works to help patients and their families understand the diagnosis and to participate in treatment and care decisions.

Dr. Cheryl Cho-Phan, our Clinic Oncologist, is experienced in treating a wide range of cancers including those affecting the breast, lung, colon, ovaries and lymphomas.  She typically sees a patient after diagnosis by a primary care physician and/or surgeon to discuss and review specific treatment options and to provide medical treatment such as chemotherapy.  Dr.Cho-Phan also coordinates all of a patient's treatment over time, working closely with surgeons, radiologists, radiation oncologists and primary care physicians as needed.  After a surgical treatment, she works with patients to discuss and implement ongoing care.  Most chemotherapy is administered in her office always by a certified oncology/chemotherapy nurse.

With over 30 years of experience, Dr. George Waltuch is our clinic Hematologist treating  blood-related problems such as coagulation and platelet disorders, anemia or other malignancies.  Dr. Waltuch is actively involved in the testing and diagnostic stages, as well as in the treatment and follow-up care.  He works to identify the specific causes of the disorder and to recommend and administer a treatment plan.

Given the vast array of health and disease-related information available these days, it is extremely important that our hematology and oncology patients understand and know how to sort through this often confusing and conflicting information.  Our Department is committed to assisting patients and their families find the information they need to make decisions and to feel comfortable with the treatment decisions we make together.

Dr. Cho-Phan is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.  Dr. Waltuch is actively involved in the teaching program at Stanford University Medical School.  He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
